We also provide bed and breakfast accommodation at Richmond Villa, a large Georgian house, ideally situated on the North Devon coast and a perfect base for sightseeing and relaxation - with alternative, beauty and complementary treatments available if required - there is no obligation to have any treatments and therapies during your stay, but we are sure you will be tempted and it is best to book in advance to avoid disappointment!

Richmond Villa occupies a superb location overlooking Northam Burrows at the western part of England's first Biosphere, recognised by UNESCO and home to the Royal North Devon Golf Course, close to the small resort of Westward Ho! famed for its Pebble Ridge and wide sandy beach.

During your visit you could take the MS Oldenburg to Lundy Island to see the abundant wild life and swim with the seals, or spend time at the nearby outdoor activity centre, Skern Lodge.

Located in the South West Peninsula on North Devon's stunning rugged coastline, overlooking Bideford Bay and Lundy Island, the centre is situated midway between the fishing village of Appledore and the village and wide sandy beach of Westward Ho! and the Royal North Devon Golf Course - the perfect place to relax.

Situated in a peaceful location, just a pleasant approx 10 minute level walk brings you to the local pub and a five minute drive to the charming fishing village of Appledore with its pubs, restaurants, ferry in season to Instow and quayside shops.

The small town of Bideford is close by and has a variety of small and larger shops plus a pannier market. Bideford was home to Charles Kingsley, author of the novel 'Westward Ho!' and following publication, the town of Westward Ho! was named after the book, distinguishing itself by being the only town whose name includes an exclamation mark!

Local facilities and attractions:

Westward Ho!, with its wide sandy beach, Royal North Devon Golf Club and course and entertainments, is also a short distance beyond.

Here you will find safe, sandy, Blue flag beaches. The estuary and river Torridge with the Tarka Trail named and featured in Henry Williamson's "Tarka the Otter", and Lundy Island - a haven of wild life and Britain's first Marine Nature Reserve.

The area is excellent for cycling, surfing and walking holidays with nearby outdoor activity centres. You can also explore Exmoor National Park.
